Business Rent Tax Reduction Takes Effect in June

A Business Rent Tax Reduction, slashing Florida’s commercial lease sales tax from 4.5% to 2.0%, starts on June 1, considerably earlier than expected. (This tax reduction was originally scheduled for July.) The change will offer Florida employers an estimated $1 billion in tax relief. The reduction, advocated for by Florida Realtors®, is the most significant since efforts began to lower the state's commercial lease tax, which was 6% before advocacy efforts. Since 2019, over 2.9 million new businesses have been established in Florida, with 2.5 million since January 2020.
